Floral Layout, Desktop Calendar with Post it notes holder !

Today's post is not about cards or canvas, rather few gifts with handmade flowers.

Made these for my little one's teachers and KG supervisior as tomorrow is Open house and we would be meeting all staff and get his progress report, New school uniforms and Books :) He is way more excited to meet his teachers and friends :)

This is the picture taken with the class teacher and friends on his 6th birthday and so i felt this would be apt to be framed with some handmade flowers using Spellbinder dies for large blooms and blue flowers are from Cheerylynn Medium Rose die. Leaves are form Spellbinders foliage die and all these are stuck on 8x8 mariposa pp and then mounted to Fabriano Brown CS.

The red blooms are distressed with Worn lipstick DI, Orange blooms from Spiced Marmalade DI, Blue blooms from Tumbled glass DI. There are misted with water, distressed and then shaped.
Now i got it framed too and all set to gift away tomorrow :)

Next is the Easel desktop calendars with Post it notes holders.

There are 4.5" square Easel cards with Spellbinder die Majesty matted for focal panel with few handmade blooms using Cheerylynn Designs Medium rose die and Ivy florish die.

Except the blues, rest of them are made from CLD Medium rose dies and sponged with Colorbox pigment inks.

Hope you like this !!

Mixed Media Love Canvas

Hi All,

Hubby left to US for presenting his Research paper and Little one is in Annual exam holidays, what better way to spend some quality time...Its always craft with endless music set on :)

This time, its with Mixed media canvas with my most favorite pic, taken on 2012 New year in Taiwan before our relocation to UAE. It was a surprise Professional outdoor Photoshoot arranged by our Chinese Friends and we had a great gala time posing at few lovely places at Tainan, that day.

Took a primed canvas of 8x12 size. Took tissue paper and stamped Kaisercraft's cherish stamp in Archival ink and crumbled it and added the single ply using modpodge, on the background diagonally on the canvas creating a texture.

Then applied honeycomb stencil using texture paste on either side of canvas to create texture followed by stamping honeycomb stencil using Archival ink.

Then took lime green mist and sprayed liberally around the edges and made it to spread and then followed emerald green and heat set it. On the sides of canvas too, tissue papers are added to create textures.

The central composition is made of a picture matted under that is pearlescent pink misted cheesecloth with a heart doily diecut. All are storebought florals with the mdf chipboard florals, leaves, flowers, butterfly which are primarily gessoed and misted with strawberry pink mists. Every spray is heat set before adding more color.

The quote is a computer generated which is highlighted using black gelatos around the edges. The title is also mdf diecut which is colored using lime green chalk ink and heat set it.
Finally added few prima sugardots, Freckled fawn heart wood veneers colored with pink chalk ink. Finished the canvas using some pink mist splashes and stamping black stain stamps in archival ink.

Hope you like my second try at canvas on this month.

Creative Blog Hop and a Canvas - First Ever Try :)

Thank You Bhavana for nominating me for this Creative Blog Hop. It helps to know a little more about the artists and their interests.

So...Little about me...

1. What are you working right now ?

Working on a card right now in my craft space and few pending project works going on.

2. How does your work differ from others of your genre?

My card making style much inclined towards pastel shades, shabby chic and vintage kind. I love to make my own handmade florals using various dies and so my cards are florally embellished always :)

3. Why do you create and what you do?

Am an MPhil graduate in Toxicology and have a pulsating desire to do my PhD. Right now, SAHM of a naughty little fella, who keeps me on toes always. Learnt classical dance, veena and carnatic music, but only being in this crafter community, made me to enjoy my life amidst of my regular mundane.

4.How does your creative process work?

To me..inspirations are everywhere and in everything. It depends on the eyes of beholder.
To inspire and to be inspired by.. is my motto always.

Thats all from me!

Love to nominate two other talented crafter pals who excels in their own line. Love to know a bit more about you guys. Hope you love to continue the chain :)

Smita Satish and Rupa Swaninathan

And coming to my First ever Canvas. Done bit of Mixed media kind style. Rest left to you to comment.

Today is my little one's 6th birthday and wanted to add my fave pic which we took on his 10th month at a tour at Macau near Hong Kong at 2010 New year :)

Very Happy Birthday Adithya :)

Its a 5x7 mini canvas and i gessoed down initally. Then took DCWV Luxury stack pp which has a metallic and pearlised sheen on it. Love this stack for its richess and elegance. Took the one with little blue shades and baby pink shades and light brown scrolls.

Then its pasted on the canvas using Modpodge Matt and again gessoed down to tone down the color and to pick up the mists.

Added the handmade blooms which are gessoed down and sprayed with Glimmer mist blue and diamond dust sprinkled on it edges.

The metal embellishments are Prima junkyards and the diecut Bundle of joy is distressed with Tumbled glass DI. My new stash, Tim holtz Elegant florishes are diecut from kraft CS and gessoed down a bit and added near the pic. Few CLD ivy florish leaves are diecut and their edges are distressed with tumbled glass DI . Few ink splatters in black, blue and few blue pearls to finish off.

Hope you like my attempt!
