Spring Love - Mixed Media Frame :)

This is my first frame in mixed media style. Am completely unknown of intricacies of this art, just enjoyed the fun playing with different mediums and colors and getting inky fingers :) Wanted to bring spring mood with cheerful blooms and fluttering butterflies is the basic idea and hope i have done some decent job :) Now onto my work...

Another view

Last week, we enjoyed Chocolate Truffle cake for little one's birthday and i couldnt throw the cakeboard in trash. Instead wanted to turn this to be a keepsake artpiece :)

This altered / upcycled work is done from scratch. The glossy layer was torn off and on the thick cardboard, i made the base using the white acrylic paint and Homemade Gesso. And to that pps were added from Handmade memories paperstack and formed the base. Here Teal layer is added as if pink layer was torn off and showing the underlying layer. And few other places too, Teal pp were added as layers at corners. A portion of mint green pp were paper pieced and added to the pink pp and all glued and layered down with Homemade Modpodge.

Homemade Textured paste is used to give those textures at background, using Tessatina border diecut. And on sides, comb were used to bring about the semicircular concentric patterns with same Homemade texture paste.

Homemade mists were prepared using acrylic colors, pearlescent, metallic acrylic colors and sprayed using mini mister. At few places, i washed down the frame with mists and muted the colors using Homemade gesso layers.

See the clustered floral spray. Those blooms are all handmade roses and muted with layer of gesso. Blue flowers were first white ones and then misted with blue acrylic paint and toned down again gesso. Diecut florishes, leaves were all layered with on top with gesso.

Baby pink Tulle pieces are tucked under few roses to give soft shade. The shiny glossiness of the glittered diecut hearts are due to UTEE clear embossing. Done stamping using Ranger Black Archival ink. Diecut butterfly , few pearls, florishes diecut and Glittered Alpha diecuts LOVE were added to get this overall effect.

Must thank Shilpa of Neon Diary for the wonderful kickstart about the mixed media, which she shared on Lulupu, which made me to make an attempt at this. And of course, special thanks to Pooja, Reusing with Quilling for generous sharing of the links for preparing DIY mists/sprays.

Being first time, i let my heart to work on more and just followed it!! All your comments and views are much appreciated.
