Celebrate - MM Canvas

Exactly a month later, back to blogging!

Ya...been into Quilling and have just submitted my entries for UK Quilling Guild Accreditation. Hope will pass the standards as its gonna be judged by eminent panel of Quillers, who are into this art for more than 20 years.

Back again to MM canvas. Oh yeah, bitten by MM bug and slowly ...learning the basics of it.

The colors and the quote from the Scrap around the world's moodboard, is the inspiration for today's work.

Took primed 8"x12" canvas. Used spun sugar DI and TCW stencils- swirls and butterlfies for background.

The pic is actually a selfie, cropped and used as focal element here. Its matted with few prima pps. TH bubble stencil is used for the central portion and various mists ( Emerald purple, Crushed strawberry, Electric blue misteries) were sprayed liberally and heat set at every spray.

Few crochet flowers, foam flowers, TH swirl flourishes, cream lace, and a sentiment from simple stories paper pad.

Few stamping using kaisercraft chickenwire stamp and few random flicks of inks in black soot, crushed stawberry and few pearls as accents to finish off. Distresses the edges using rich cocoa momento.

Spring Mood MM Canvas

Here again with a 8x8 Canvas, depicting my current mood..."Happy ".

Oh yeah, Spring is one such season which brings such happiness to our mind and soul. Though am residing in an arab country, must say, best days are 4 years of my new wedded life at Taiwan, a wonderful country in Pacific ocean, those memories are still etched in heart. The pic is from a photoshoot taken there.

Took a primed canvas, misted liberally with Gorguss green, sunny yellow, emerald green mists - Mistries brand of Diecuts and more. And i heat set at every application to fix the color.

After misting, took TCW mini stencil of birds and feather and using texture paste applied at top corner. Then i stamped trellis kind IBS background stamp using archival ink Sepia randomly on corners. Then using TCW microbial stencil applied texture paste and misted again with topaz yellow mist. Doily frame and on top of it pic is matted on cardstocks.

Made a floral spray, using all store bought flowers here, which i was hoarding for many months. It incudes teeny tiny acrylic flowers which i pollen centred and used as an infloresence here, few prima flowers too with Cheerylynn designs ivy florish diecut leaves.

Used mdf birds, primarily gessoed and followed by that misted with pearlescent topaz yellow mist. Few paperpieced butterflies and a IBS butterfly stamped using teal colorbox pigment ink.

Few ink splatters in white and black inks to create interest and a Happy diecut is added to finish off the canvas.

Hope you like it! Thanks much for all the encouraging comments for my previous canvas and it drives me to improvise well :)

Beachy Theme Canvas

After almost a month, am back to crafting and blogging today.

Today's post is about a Beachy theme Mixed media canvas of size 9"x12". Its my 3rd canvas and this is the larger one so far of what i did. Am just a newbie in this area of art and all your comments are much appreciated to improvise me :)

This is created using a wonderful moodboard at Scrap Around The World blog. Its my ever first time participating in their challenge :)

Its filled with such mesmerising colors and elements.

The things which caught my heart is the lovely shades of blue colors, rope, natural elements, and the quote. And so made Lost in Love canvas.

Following moodboard from 13arts is also my inspiration for the canvas, Teal, Turquoise are my fav colors and roses, dewdrops, beads are my elements in moodbaord, which caught my eyes. First time participating here :)

Took a primed canvas and applied texture paste using TimHoltz Bubble stencil and misted generously with Electric blue Mist and heat set it. Stamped the waves from Kaisercraft Offshore stamp set on to a thick white cardstock and fussy cut out that. Matted these on the stenciled area and so the focal point is the pic of us taken in Amping Beach, Taiwan. Made a Raffia knotted heart and kept in the pic to add little focus.

Added MDF flourishes which are primed with acrylic white and few flowers and swirls for bit interest.Sprayed Glimmer Mist Blue sheen around the focal image. Added a bottle cap filled with teeny tiny natural elements and sealed it with glossy accents.

Added blue microbeads at few places and flicked black soot distress ink. Added a wood veneer on a heart diceut at a corner of the canvas.

Finally a computer generated quote - Lost in Love added.

Hope you like it! Leave some comments as it means a lot to me.

Floral Layout, Desktop Calendar with Post it notes holder !

Today's post is not about cards or canvas, rather few gifts with handmade flowers.

Made these for my little one's teachers and KG supervisior as tomorrow is Open house and we would be meeting all staff and get his progress report, New school uniforms and Books :) He is way more excited to meet his teachers and friends :)

This is the picture taken with the class teacher and friends on his 6th birthday and so i felt this would be apt to be framed with some handmade flowers using Spellbinder dies for large blooms and blue flowers are from Cheerylynn Medium Rose die. Leaves are form Spellbinders foliage die and all these are stuck on 8x8 mariposa pp and then mounted to Fabriano Brown CS.

The red blooms are distressed with Worn lipstick DI, Orange blooms from Spiced Marmalade DI, Blue blooms from Tumbled glass DI. There are misted with water, distressed and then shaped.
Now i got it framed too and all set to gift away tomorrow :)

Next is the Easel desktop calendars with Post it notes holders.

There are 4.5" square Easel cards with Spellbinder die Majesty matted for focal panel with few handmade blooms using Cheerylynn Designs Medium rose die and Ivy florish die.

Except the blues, rest of them are made from CLD Medium rose dies and sponged with Colorbox pigment inks.

Hope you like this !!

Mixed Media Love Canvas

Hi All,

Hubby left to US for presenting his Research paper and Little one is in Annual exam holidays, what better way to spend some quality time...Its always craft with endless music set on :)

This time, its with Mixed media canvas with my most favorite pic, taken on 2012 New year in Taiwan before our relocation to UAE. It was a surprise Professional outdoor Photoshoot arranged by our Chinese Friends and we had a great gala time posing at few lovely places at Tainan, that day.

Took a primed canvas of 8x12 size. Took tissue paper and stamped Kaisercraft's cherish stamp in Archival ink and crumbled it and added the single ply using modpodge, on the background diagonally on the canvas creating a texture.

Then applied honeycomb stencil using texture paste on either side of canvas to create texture followed by stamping honeycomb stencil using Archival ink.

Then took lime green mist and sprayed liberally around the edges and made it to spread and then followed emerald green and heat set it. On the sides of canvas too, tissue papers are added to create textures.

The central composition is made of a picture matted under that is pearlescent pink misted cheesecloth with a heart doily diecut. All are storebought florals with the mdf chipboard florals, leaves, flowers, butterfly which are primarily gessoed and misted with strawberry pink mists. Every spray is heat set before adding more color.

The quote is a computer generated which is highlighted using black gelatos around the edges. The title is also mdf diecut which is colored using lime green chalk ink and heat set it.
Finally added few prima sugardots, Freckled fawn heart wood veneers colored with pink chalk ink. Finished the canvas using some pink mist splashes and stamping black stain stamps in archival ink.

Hope you like my second try at canvas on this month.
